MEN'S SOCCER FALLS SHORT IN SEASON OPENER, 1-0

Garden City, N.Y. (September 1, 2005)- Despite outshooting host Adelphi, 12-10, Manhattan could not find the back of the net, falling, 1-0, this afternoon in its season opener. Javier Escobedo paced the Jasper offense with a team-high three shots.

Adelphi would score the game's lone goal just before halftime. Dieudonne Nonga beat Manhattan goalkeeper Dash Parsons off a pass from Ron Forman.

Parsons made four saves in his first collegiate start, while Michael Hurley made six saves for Adelphi.

Manhattan gets right back into action tomorrow, Friday, September 2, when the Jaspers continue their season opening road trip at Philadelphia University. Kickoff is slated for 3:00 p.m.
