Bronx, N.Y. (October 11, 2005)--Manhattan Volleyball dropped three highly-contested games to Bronx rival Fordham University (27-30, 26-30, 29-31) in a non-conference match at the Rose Hill Gym. Lady Jasper senior outside hitter
Megan O'Dorisio tallied her eighth double-double of the season by pounding out a match-high 17 kills to go with 10 digs in Manhattan's final tune-up before the start of MAAC play this upcoming weekend.
Neither team took complete control of the contest for any significant length of time, as the teams were never separated by more than six points. Fordham slipped past the Lady Jaspers, who entered the match as winners of six of their last seven, by a combined nine points over the three frames.
Senior outside hitter, and reigning MAAC Defensive Player of the Week,
Ashley Watson added eights kills and 12 digs for the Lady J's. Watson's 12 digs marks the fourth straight match the sophomore has recorded double figures in the defensive category.
Fordham junior right-side hitter Jamee Stimson led her squad offensively with 14 kills, and setter Lia Ieremia dished out a match-high 35 assists.
Manhattan Volleyball can get back to its winning ways when Canisius College visits Draddy Gym on October 15 to begin the MAAC portion of the schedule. The following day the Lady Jaspers take on another conference foe from Western New York, as Niagara University visits Riverdale. Both matches begin at 2:00 p.m.
