Bronx, N.Y. (October 1, 2005)- Manhattan concluded its grueling, ten-game, season-opening road trip tonight, dropping a 2-0 decision at Bronx rival Fordham. Manhattan held a 12-4 edge in corner kicks, but could not overcome a 14-7 Fordham advantage in shots.
Fordham's Mike Forenza tallied both of the game's goals, the first just 2:23 into the game off a cross from Anthony Akande, with the second coming at the 62:36 mark on a penalty kick.
Tommy Lenhardt and
Brian Lundy each tallied a shot on goal for the Jaspers.
David Mires recorded two saves for Manhattan, while Justin Burse tallied two saves for the clean sheet.
Manhattan plays its home and MAAC opener on Friday, October 7, when the Jaspers host Marist at Gaelic Park at 3:00 p.m.
