Boston, MA (March 6, 2004)-The Men's and Women's Track & Field athletes competed at the IC4A and the ECAC today. The men's Track & Field Team holds first place after the first day of the IC4A Championships.
Michael Freeman captured first place in the Weight Throw throwing 20.28m and
Magnus Ahlen was crowned IC4A Champion in the Long Jump after leaping 7.40m.
Tyler Raymond advanced to tomorrow's finals in the 1000m after earning second place running in a time of 2:26.31.
Joseph Van Dyke also ran in the 1000m finishing 16th in a time of 2:30.95.
Kurt Forsyth competed in the 200m finishing 30th (22.20) and in the 400m taking 26th place (49.49).
Janek Augustynowicz finished sixth in the Long Jump after leaping 7.25m.
Zoran Loncar competed in the Weight Throw finishing 4th after his second toss of 18.10m, while Dan Gazzola finished 11th after his throw of 17.12m. After the first day of the Heptathlon
Nils Pettersson is placed tenth with 2643 points. The men's 4x800m Relay Team finished in 7:37.64 qualifying for tomorrow's finals. The team consists of Van Dyke,
Joshua Conklin,
Matt Reilly, and Raymond.
On the women's side, Teresa Frierson qualified for the ECAC 500m final finishing in a personal best time of 1:13.21. The women's 4x800m Relay Team also qualified for the ECAC finals finishing the race in 9:08.34. The team consists of Rachel McGee, Michelle Jones, Linn Modin and Lisa Naucler.
Raymond, Pettersson, the 4x800m Relay Team and other Manhattan athletes will compete tomorrow starting at 10am at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, MA. Frierson, the 4x800m Relay Team and more Lady Jaspers will start competing at 12pm at the Boston Armory in Boston, MA.
