New York, N.Y. (March 10, 2004) - Manhattan trailed for a total of 38 seconds in an 11-9 victory over Columbia at Wien Stadium. The Jaspers handed the Lions their first loss of the season and grabbed their second straight win. The Jaspers overall record is now 2-1 overall, while the Lions drop to 2-1.
Columbia's Carrie Anderer scored the first goal of the contest 52 seconds into play, but Lady Jasper
Jenny Carman answered with the first of her team-high four goals on a free-position shot at 1:30. Manhattan held a 7-6 lead at halftime, but the Lions evened the score on a goal by Anderer at 34:16. Manhattan responded with four unanswered goals, including two by Carman. Anderer scored twice in the final four minutes but the Lions could not draw even for the first loss in six meetings with Manhattan.
Victoria Carman had two goals for the Jaspers and Katie Warner added a goal and an assist for the Lions.
Freshman
Ashley Devins made 14 saves in goal for Manhattan, including 10 in the second half. Sydney Linder had nine saves for the Light Blue.
Manhattan is back in action this Saturday, March 13 at Drexel in Philadelphia, PA at 12pm.
