New York, NY (February 14, 2004)-Selected athletes from the men's and women's track teams competed this weekend at the Fourth Annual New Balance Armory Collegiate Invitational held at the Armory.
Michael Freeman and
Magnus Ahlen were the top finishers for Manhattan. Freeman came in first place in the Weight Throw tossing the weight 19.46m and Ahlen captured first place in the Long Jump leaping 7.49m.
Other Jaspers that competed this weekend were
Adeniyi Omisore who finished second in the Triple Jump,
Anders Constantin earned second place in the Weight Throw with a toss of 17.95m and he finished fourth in the Shot Put (15.65m). Dan Gazzola finished fourth in the Weight Throw (17.79m), while
Janek Augustynowicz took seventh place in the Triple Jump (14.50m) and 11th in the Long Jump (6.91m) and teammate
Joseph Van Dyke finished the 800m in a time of 1:56.31 earning 18th place.
The Lady Jaspers also performed well at the Invitational. Three women finished in third place, Lisa Naucler in the 800m (2:13.37), Therese Forsberg in the 3000m (9:51.09), and Jenna Daly in the Pole Vault (3.45m). Linn Modin ran the 800m in a time of 2:15.50 earning eighth place. Marina Liander earned fifth place in the Weight Throw after she tossed the weight 14.63m and she finished sixth in the Shot Put (13.53m).
The Jaspers compete again this Friday, February 20th at the MAAC Championships. The Field events will be held in Draddy Gymnasium starting at 1 pm and will then continue at the Armory at 5 pm.
