New York, NY (January 9, 2004)-The Jaspers returned to action this week at Draddy Gymnasium and the Armory for the Fordham/St. John's Invitational. The men's medley relay team captured first place and qualified for the IC4A running in a time of 10:12.16. The team included
Matt Reilly (Burnt Hills, NY),
Adeniyi Omisore (East Greenwich, RI), Joe VanDyke (Millington, NJ)and
Tyler Raymond (Scotia, NY). Raymond also qualified for the ECAC in the mile running in a time of 4:11.4. Omisore Triple Jumped into the IC4A with a personal best leap of 15.41m. Theresa Frierson (North Ridgeville, OH) and Therese Forsberg (Ostervala, Sweden) both ran a personal best and qualified for the ECAC. Frierson ran the 500m in 1:15.34 and Forsberg ran the 3000m in 9:57.88.
For the men
Michael Freeman (East Greenwich, RI) earned first place in the Weight Throw with a throw of 18.58m. Dan Gazzola (East Greenwich, RI) finished second in the Weight Throw with a toss of 17.34m. In the men's Long Jump
Magnus Ahlen (Karlstad, Sweden) and Janek Augusynowicz (Rutherford, NJ) tied for second place with leaps of 7.06m.
Kurt Forsyth (Summit, NJ) finished second in the 400m in a time of 49.46 and
Nils Pettersson (Boden, Sweden) took second place in the Pole Vault.
On the women's side, Rachel McGee (Bellport, NY) ran the 1000m in at time of 3:03.33 earning first place. Jenna Daly (Massapequa, NY) also captured first place in the Pole Vault (3.20m). Marina Liander (Staten Island, NY) took first place for the women's Weight Throw after her toss of 15.03m and took second in the Shot Put (12.99m). Karin Larsson (Garphyttan, Sweden) jumped 11.10m in the Triple Jump placing second and Julia Audette (Southington, CT) finished second in the Long Jump after her leap of 5.07m.
The Jaspers compete again on Friday, January 16th at Draddy Gymnasium in the Manhattan Invitational at 10am.
