#18 SETON HALL DOWNS MEN'S SOCCER, 3-1

South Orange, NJ (October 15, 2003)- The 18th ranked Seton Hall Pirates scored three first half goals and held on for a 3-1 win over Manhattan College today at Owen T. Carroll Field in South Orange, NJ in the final non-conference game of the year for Manhattan. Barry Tulloch scored for the Jaspers, who fall to 2-9-0 in the season.

Seton Hall scored just 2:24 into the game on a goal by David Roman. Roman took a long lead pass from Luke Vercollone put the ball to the upper corner of the net, beating Jasper goalkeeper Michael Sheehan, who was making his first start of the year.

The Pirates added two more goals before halftime, both by Ryan McGowan, to take a 3-0 lead into the half. Seton Hall outshot Manhattan 17-4 in the first half.

In the second half, the Jaspers put more pressure on the Pirate net, outshooting Seton Hall 8-6. Manhattan finally broke through and got on the scoring column at the 86:45 mark, as Tulloch made a long run and put a shot to the upper left, past Pirate goalkeeper Ian Joyce.

Sheehan made six saves in net for Manhattan, while Joyce stopped three shots for Seton Hall.

The Jaspers will be back in action on Friday, October 17, when they host MAAC foe Loyola at 3:00 p.m. at Gaelic Park.
