TRACK & FIELD PLACE WELL AT METROPOLITAN CHAMPIONSHIPS

Piscataway, NJ (April 16, 2003)-The Manhattan Men's and Women's Track & Field Teams competed well at the first day of the Metropolitan Championships being held at the Bauer Track & Field Complex. Thomas Jacob Freeman led the men finishing first in the Hammer Throw after his toss of 67.20m. Marina Liander was the top Lady Jasper finisher placing second in the Hammer Throw after her throw of 46.10m.

Four other men competed in the Hammer Throw. Zoran Loncar finished second throwing the hammer 61.70m and Anders Constantin took a third place finish throwing 58.34m. After his toss of 58.04m Michael Freeman took fourth place. Dan Gazzola earned sixth place after his throw of 51.60m. In the Discus, Loncar broke his personal record throwing 47.44m taking second place and also qualifying himself for the IC4A. Rajne Svenssohn took third with a throw of 43.45m, while Michael Freeman finished sixth, 41.88m. Thomas Jacob Freeman threw the discus 40.02m placing seventh and Anders Constantin placed ninth throwing 39.54m. In the men's Javelin, Nils Petterson finished seventh after throwing the Javelin 52.16m.

In the women's Javelin, Julia Audette took sixth place throwing 33.67m, while Jessica Jansson finished ninth with a 31.01m throw.

More Jaspers compete tomorrow for the second day of the MET's starting at 10am.
