NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Manhattan Softball was twice on the short end of pitching duels on Friday, as the Jaspers lost both games to Iona by final margins of 1-0 and 2-1. Despite the tough results, Karissa Spring and Sophia Kiseloski had good showings on the mound in back-to-back starts for the Jaspers.
GAME ONE: (Manhattan 0 | Iona 1)

Center fielder Brianna Estevez recorded the first hit of the game in the fourth inning, but was erased from the base paths after being caught stealing second.

In the bottom of the fourth, Brianna Fischer staked out a 1-0 lead for Iona on a home run to center field.

Following Estevez's hit, Iona pitcher Allison Hoppe retired the next eight Manhattan batters.

Hoppe only needed four batters to retire the side in the seventh to close out the win.
GAME TWO: (Manhattan 1 | Iona 2)

Iona would drive in both of its runs on sacrifice flies, coming in the first inning and later in the fifth.

Manhattan would tally five hits, but only Lindsey Hoag's single in the sixth was able to get the Jaspers on the board.
STATS AND NOTES

Karissa Spring (111.2 IP) and Sophia Kiseloski (55.2 IP) have accounted for 80 percent of the Jaspers' innings this season.

Both teams combined for only three hits in game one, with Spring limiting the Gaels to only two base knocks in the lid lifter.

Brianna Estevez extended her hit streak to six games, and was the lone Jasper to record a hit in game one.

Over her last six games, Estevez is batting .555 (10-18).

Manhattan won its previous two Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference series before dropping this weekend's set in New Rochelle. The Jaspers' last series loss before this one came at Fairfield (March 28-29).
NEXT UP
