LEWISTON, NY — Manhattan Baseball found itself in a tenuous spot down 4-1 after one inning, and the Jaspers' offense was stymied the rest of the way en route to a 12-2 loss to Niagara at Bobo Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED

With runners on first and second in the first inning, Ryan Lordier delivered an RBI single to drive home Guriyandel Salva, giving Manhattan a 1-0 lead.

Niagara posted four runs in the bottom of the inning, on an RBI walk, a throwing error by Salva and a stolen base that simultaneously allowed the Niagara runner at third to score.

The Purple Eagles doubled down in the bottom of the second when Rees Kozar drilled a two-run home run off Carter Cowburn. Niagara led 6-1 after two.

Jeremy Sosa would drive in the Jaspers' second and final run of the game on an RBI single in the fourth inning.

Andrew Castellucio, Carter Cowburn, Andrew Brown and Brant Vicini all saw time on the mound in game one of the series.

Castellucio, who pitched the first inning, was handed the loss.

Second baseman Ryan Lordier registered two of Manhattan's five hits on Thursday.

Lordier is batting .324 in his first season in the Bronx.
