RIVERDALE, NY — Manhattan softball brought the heat on a chilly day at Gaelic Park, winning both games of Sunday's double-header with Saint Peter's to secure the series sweep. Manhattan walked off game one, winning 2-1 on a two-run single from Sophia Kiseloski. The Jaspers would then double down in game two, pushing four runs across in the sixth to run away with a 6-1 win.
GAME ONE

Jaspers' pitcher Karissa Spring worked around a single and hit-by-pitch to deliver a scoreless first.

Manhattan stranded two runners of their own in the first, with lead-off hitter Anissa Villalobos and two-hitter Brianna Estevez both working walks to begin a scoreless bottom of the first.

The Peacocks would break through first in the top of the fourth when Steph Bendzlowicz drilled an RBI single that scored Tai Turner from second. Bendzlowicz was thrown out at second on a throw from left fielder Lindsey Hoag.

After Spring worked a flawless seventh, Manhattan had one last chance to salvage something in game two.

Working against Saint Peter's pitcher Morgan Lipansky, the Jaspers started off the seventh with singles from shortstop Angelina Gencarelli and Villalobos. Next came an infield single from Estevez that loaded the bases for Hoag, who would ground into a fielder's choice which saw Peacocks' third baseman Tai Tuner get the force-out at home.

This set up another bases loaded opportunity for the Jaspers, with Kiseloski taking advantage with the 2-RBI single that won the game.
GAME TWO

Just like in game one, Saint Peter's scored the first run in the fourth inning of game two, taking a 1-0 lead by virtue of Tea Turner double that scored Jess Forte from second.

In the bottom of the fourth, Manhattan enacted its revenge with Hoag delivering an RBI single that scored Villalobos following her lead-off double. Following a single from Kiseloski, Hoag would come around to score on a fielder's choice groundout from Spring.

Kiseloski maintained control of the game on the mound, retiring seven straight batters during the middle innings to keep the Peacocks quiet.

Manhattan plated four runs in the sixth for much-needed insurance, coming off an RBI single for Kiseloski, a steal of home for Hoag and a 2-run triple for Falotico.

Kiseloski's walk-off single was the Jaspers' first walk-off of 2025 and the first for the program since a 3-2 win over Rider in game one of a double-header on 4/5/24.

Brianna Estevez had a productive day at the plate going 4-6 with a double, two runs scored and one walk.

Third baseman Jamie Falotico posted the second multi-RBI game of her career thanks to her 2-RBI triple in the sixth inning of game two.

Left fielder Lindsey Hoag went 2-3 with an RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base in game two.

Manhattan notched five stolen bases on the day with one each from Lindsey Hoag, Brianna Estevez, Sophia Miseloski, Angelina Gencarelli and Anissa Villalobos.

Manhattan's three-game sweep was the first in program history, thanks to the MAAC implementing the three-game series format just last season.

The Jaspers' current five-game winning streak is Manhattan's best stretch of play since winning five straight in March 2021.

At 6-6, the Jaspers are tied with Sacred Heart for the eighth spot in the MAAC standings, with the top eight qualifying for the MAAC Softball Championship.

On Wednesday, Manhattan will make the short commute to Columbia (14-14, 7-4 Ivy) for a 4 pm showdown on ESPN+. The Jaspers and Lions will square off at Columbia Softball Stadium.
