RIVERDALE, N.Y. — Former Manhattan head coach Steve Lappas paid a visit to his old stomping grounds on Friday afternoon to wish the current Jaspers squad the best as it prepares for a busy next month of basketball, and hopefully more. Lappas, who coached Manhattan to a MAAC Regular Season Championship and the third round of the NIT in 1992, reminded Manhattan about the magnitude of this time of the season and the importance of trusting head coach John Gallagher in all that the Jaspers do.
Manhattan will take that message into Saturday's home match-up with Saint Peter's (7-12, 2-9 MAAC) on Saturday at 2 P.M., as it looks to make up more ground in the crowded MAAC standings. Manhattan sits in 8th place, but only a game and a half behind fourth-place Iona.

Saint Peter's is fresh off of a 77-63 loss at Siena on Thursday night. After falling behind by 16 at halftime, the Peacocks outscored the Saints by two points in the second half of action.

Saint Peter's leading-scorer Marcus Randolph (14.4 PPG) poured in a team-high 19 points while Bryce Eaton chipped in 15 points off the bench.

The Peacocks are led by head coach Bashir Mason, who is in his third season leading the program. Mason and the #5 Peacocks beat #2 seed Fairfield in the MAAC Championship last season.
