NEW YORK, NY — Manhattan men's and women's track and field enjoyed a successful opening day at the MAAC Championships at "The Armory." All said, Manhattan netted three golds, a school record and one second-place finish to cap day one.
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS

Graduate thrower Paul Brennan declared victory in the Men's Weight Throw, hurling the weight a distance of 19.39m.

Sophomore Thomas Dubnov Raz registered a 7.12m jump in the Men's Long Jump to take first place in the event. Dubnov Raz's score was a new PR for the Israeli.

Senior Darion Lopez set a new school record in the Men's 200m with a time of 21.61, qualifying for tomorrow's 200m Finals. Lopez, who set the school record (6.84 seconds) in the 60m last weekend, also qualified for Sunday's 60m Finals by posting a time of 6.85 on Saturday.

Junior jumper Ivan Lytovchenko nabbed second place in the Men's High Jump, reaching a height of 2.05m. The native of Ukraine was edged by Rider's Michael Palmer in the tiebreaker.

Junior Alex Bilello posted a mark of 6.87m in the Men's Long Jump which was good for sixth place in the event.
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS

Senior thrower Alexandra Caraher finished atop of the podium in the Women's Weight Throw, registering a mark of 16.29m.

In the Women's 400m Prelims, freshman Ellianne Fernandez qualified for Sunday's Finals with a time of 58.32 second.

Freshman Victoria Baker posted a score of 1.65 in the Women's High Jump to set a new PR. Baker finished in 6th place in her MAAC Championships debut.
