HACKENSACK, NJ — Manhattan women's lacrosse picked up its first win of the season on Wednesday afternoon, downing FDU by a 5-2 margin at Robert T. Shields Field. The Jaspers never trailed for the duration of the 60 minutes of action and were backed by a strong defensive posture led by seven saves from Danielle Serbinski.
HOW IT HAPPENED

Manhattan jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a goal from Lauren Maher assisted by Ashley Bonitch at the 5:19 mark of the first quarter.

After a goal from FDU's Maeve Chamberlin tied the game at the 7:13 mark of the second quarter, Olivia Cruthers got on the scoresheet with a strike 5:54 to give the Jaspers a 2-1 lead.

Cruthers then found Ava Fernandes for another Jaspers goal, making the score 3-1 going into the locker room at halftime.

Maher set up Emily Derrico for the first goal of the third quarter. And with the Jaspers leading by three goals in the fourth quarter, the road warriors tacked on one more with Maya Metz picking out Cruthers for her second goal of the game and the Jaspers final tally of the afternoon.
