STATEN ISLAND, NY– The Manhattan Men's and Women's Track and Field program participated in the Metropolitan Indoor Championships on Friday afternoon inside the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island.
The men's team finished third with 101 points. Meanwhile, the women registered 45.50 points, good for fourth place.
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
- Senior Kylie Conroy logged eight points in the Women's 5000-meter run with a time of 18:05.11. Good for a second-place finish behind Fordham's Sarah Zahaykevich (17:55.44).
- Junior Makayla Dorvil finished fourth in the Women's 60-meter hurdles heat with a time of 9.46.
- Freshman Tranira Booker finished sixth in the Women's 60-meter dash with a time of 7.92 and atop the sixth heat category.
- Sophomore Bailee Christofis logged four points and registered a fifth-place finish in the Women 1 Mile Run with a final time 5:15.58.
- Freshman Mikaella Martin registered a fifth-place finish and logged four points in the Women 800 Meter Run with a final time of 2:18.68.
- The Jaspers, which included Kylie Conroy, Elaina Batista, Julia Hendricks, and Bailee Christofis, finished second as a team in the women's 4000 m distance medley relay.
- Freshman Victoria Baker finished with a mark of 1.60m in the Women's High Jump. This marks her season-best finish, tied with St. John's Ruth Smith for fourth place.
- Senior Alexandra Caraher registered a fifth-place finish in the Women's Weight Throw with a mark of 15.49m.
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
- Sophomore Adrian Alonso Canales logged a third-place finish with sixth points in the Men 5000-meter Run. Canales etched a time of 15:32.31 on the clock.
- Senior Darion Lopez finished tied atop the Men 60-meter Dash event with a time of 6.95. Lopez finished alongside LIU's Sage Primus and Fordham's Njaminaweh Abdul Latif.
- Additionally, Lopez finished first in the Men's 400-meter Dash event with a time of 49.49, beating out the next closest runner by .17 seconds.
- In the same 60-meter Dash event, junior Alex Bilello finished with a time of 7.07, tied for seventh alongside Saint Peter's Ameen Zubir.
- Freshman Rasmus Jaeger and junior Travis Delaney registered a third and fourth-place finish, respectively, in the Men 1000-meter Run with times of 2:32.00 and 2:33.22.
- Junior Jaxon Newton completed the Men 3000-meter Run with a time of 8:34.75 and added eight points to his team's overall score. Newton logged a second-place finish in the respective event.
- Manhattan logged a third-place finish as a team in the Men's 4x400 Meter Relay event. The quartet that competed were Brian Oduor, Jaiden Bradshaw, Shane McCorry, and Thomas Bonsignore.
- Sophomore Thomas Dubnov Rav took the Men Long Jump with a mark of 7.12. The sophomore obtained 10 points en route to the Jaspers' third-place finish while clinching his spot in the IC4As next month.
- Freshman Jayce Ward recorded a fifth-place finish in the Men Triple Jump event with a mark of 13.73m, a new personal best by over one foot.
- Senior Paul Brennan compiled a second-place score in the Men Shot Put with a park of 15.18. In the Men's Weight Throw event, Brennan finished atop the respective chart with a 19.92m mark and logged a combined 18 points in the two events. Brennan's hurl in the weight was a new personal best for the veteran thrower.
