NEW YORK, N.Y. — Manhattan Men's Track & Field team descended on The Armory on Friday morning for the Ramapo College Season Opener. The Jaspers walked away with nine personal records or season bests, and were jumpstarted by Jaxon Newton's first-place performance in the 5000m race.

Newton's triumph in the 5000m race comes a week after he secured 1st place in the 3000m race at the West Point Open. Junior Adrian Alonso PR'ed in the 5000m event on Friday with a mark of 15:00.1.

After earning first place in the Long Jump at West Point, junior Alex Bilello set a new bar for himself on Friday with an indoor personal-best of 6.95m, good for 4th place. Bilello doubled down and also PR'ed in the 60m hurdles (7.08).

Manhattan's performance in the 4x400m earned the quartet of Darion Lopez, Travis Delaney, CJ Purchia and Jaiden Bradshaw 3rd place, registering a mark of 3:22.05.

Sophomore Jaiden Bradshaw made his presence felt with a season-best time of 50.82 in 400m race, collecting 8th place.

The Jaspers were bolstered by a pair of personal-best performances from seniors Brendan Lucey (4:27.81) and Jack Flanagan (4:36.69) in the mile.

Freshman Rasmus Jaeger checked in at 5th place in the 800m race with a time of 1:56.74.

Freshman Thomas Bonsignore posted a personal-best time of 23.06 in the 200m to snag 23rd overall.

Sophomore CJ Purchia checked in at 16th place in the 400m, while freshman Sammy Somwaru notched 20th place in the Long Jump.

Manhattan will return to The Armory next Friday and Saturday (Jan. 24-25) for the Dr. Sander Invitational hosted by Columbia University.
