Buffalo, NY — Manhattan hung tough with Canisius but an 85th minute goal from the Golden Griffin's Emma Oliphant proved to be the difference in the game. The Jaspers fall to 4-3 overall and 0-1 in MAAC play.

Manhattan sophomore goalie Molly Brunk had 4 saves in the loss. The Jaspers were looking for their fifth straight shutout win until Canisius had other plans. The last time Manhattan clinched such a feat was back in 2006, and they came less than 5 minutes away from achieving it on Saturday in Buffalo.

Manhattan had a good scoring chance in the 76th minute when Sami Derrico won the ball in Canisius' territory and was taken down just outside the box. The referees decided not to whistle and the momentum soon turned in the Golden Griffins' favor. Overall, Manhattan was still outshot 11-6.

Next Time Out

Manhattan will return to action when they play host to Sacred Heart (0-6-1) on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 12 p.m. ET. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+.
