CHARLOTTESVILLE, V.A. — Manhattan cut deep into multiple Virginia leads, including closing to within six with 1:44 left, before losing a hard-fought game by a score of 74-65. The Jaspers hit 11 threes to stay within striking distance.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Jaspers fell behind early with Virginia taking a 10-2 lead over three minutes in.
- Back to back threes from Wesley Robinson brought the Jaspers six back at 14-8 with 14:40 left in the first half.
- Virginia took a 25-12 lead after responding to a jumper from Shaquil Bender with a jumper by Rohde and an easy finish inside from Jacob Cofie on an assist from Isaac McNeely.
- Manhattan once again tapped into their three-point arsenal with back to back threes from Dinkins and Sydnor that cut the deficit to 29-22 with 5:50 left.
- The Jaspers got four back before going into halftime down 38-31 after a second-chance opportunity for Cofie with 17 seconds left.
- Virginia came out of the gates hot in the second half similar to how it started the game. The Cavaliers hit 5 of their first 8 shots, establishing a 15-point lead at the first media timeout.
- Manhattan stayed hot from three and scored its next 12 points from beyond the arc, with one each from Winston and Bender and two from Roxburgh.
- After falling behind by 13 with 6:36 left, Manhattan launched a 7-0 run capped by a second-chance opportunity for Robinson plus the foul. The ensuing free throw cut the deficit to 61-55 with 3:44 left.
- The Jaspers would close to within six one last time at 1:44 before Isaac McKneely connected on a three to push it back to nine.
- Virginia made their last six free throws to seal the game.

- Robinson posted a season-high 12 points one game after scoring a floater at the buzzer to beat Army.
- Gilyard and Sydnor each pulled down 7 rebounds.
- Manhattan made 11 threes on 26 attempts (42.3 percent).
