POMONA, N.Y. – Behind a pair of short porch long balls from Pete Durocher and Daniel Perez, the Manhattan baseball team secured a crucial MAAC series win over Mount St. Mary's, 9-7, at Clover Stadium.

The Jaspers will go to the sweep tomorrow at 3 p.m. on ESPN3.

The first run of the game came courtesy of some heads-up base running by Jack Lynch. Jacob Radziewicz hit what would have been a normal fly-out to center field, but on the tag from second, the Mount's center fielder fumbled the ball, which allowed Lynch to take the extra base and cross home plate.

The Mount responded with a two-run third inning to take the lead, but that lead would not last long. In the home half of the third inning, Frankie Marinelli drew a walk and stole second, moving to third on the play after an errant throw by the catcher. Logan Pfannenbecker followed that up with a four-pitch walk to put runners on the corner and set the table for Durocher. Durocher delivered in big way with his fifth home run of the year to take a 4-2 lead.

Perez connected for his home run, a team-leading seventh, in the following inning to drive in Radziewicz and grow the lead to 6-2.

The Mount would not go away, plating three runs in the seventh inning to come within one run, 7-6, but in the next two innings, Radziewicz would drive in one run each inning to help secure the win.

Radziewicz finished with a season-high three RBI. Oliver Pudvar earned the win after presiding over three innings in relief of starter Tyler Fagler.
