RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The Manhattan softball program returns to action on Wednesday at Seton Hall for a doubleheader. The Jaspers then host Bryant for a doubleheader on Sunday.
Manhattan is coming off a 1-4 weekend at Texas Tech. The Jaspers beat Buffalo on Saturday 4-2. Sophia Kiselowski picked up the win against Buffalo after tossing a complete game. The first year Jasper posted a 2.44 ERA over 14.1 innings in Lubbock. Maddy Weir hit .400 and picked up her first collegiate home run over the weekend. Gabriella Mazzotta hit .389 with three extra-base hits and a team-leading three RBI and runs scored.
Seton Hall is 8-9 on the season and is coming off a 1-2 weekend at UConn. The Pirates and Jaspers do have one common opponent, Texas Tech. Seton Hall split its two meetings with Texas Tech, while Manhattan dropped both meetings last weekend with Tech. Taylor Hill leads the team in batting average (.314), on-base (.403), slugging (.647), OPS (1.050), hits (16), home runs (4), total bases (23), and walk (9). Kelsey Carr has started a team-best seven games and is 3-2 with a 1.75 ERA.
Bryant got swept in a doubleheader against Howard on Monday and is 4-11 on the season. The Bulldogs have yet to play a home game this season. Jenna Gardner and Aleix Hudson are hitting over .300 for the Bulldogs. Gardner has scored a team-best 13 times and has drawn 11 walks this season.
The Jaspers are 2-2 at home this season, with doubleheader splits against Hartford and Central Connecticut.
Mazzotta's weekend in Lubbock brought her season average over .300, joining Marika Deemer as the two Jaspers hitting over .300. Mazzotta also owns a seven-game hitting streak.
