NEW BRITAIN, CT - The Manhattan men's basketball team defeated Central Connecticut State, 67-63, at Detrick Gymnasium.

The Jaspers (3-1) were led in scoring by Shaquil Bender, who had 16 points. Seydou Traore added 15 points and 8 rebounds, just shy of a double-double, while Brett Rumpel scored 12 points and had 7 rebounds for the victory.

Manhattan trailed 35-26 at the half. Entering the final 10 minutes the score was 50-46 with Manhattan needing to turn the tables in order to come away with the win. The Jaspers did just that, outscoring the Blue Devils down the stretch to earn its third win of the season.

"Love the second half, love the comeback, and our toughness," said Coach Gallagher. "We really stopped turning the ball over in the first half that really hurt us. Second half we really controlled tempo and executed much better."

CCSU (1-3) forward Allan Jeanne-Rose finished with 25 points and 4 rebounds. The Blue Devils were held to 41.4 percent from the floor and 27.3 percent from three-point range.

Manhattan shot 50 percent (23-46) from the floor and 40 percent (6-15) from behind the arc to secure the comeback win.

Today's win makes the overall series, 1-1, after the Jaspers lost to CCSU 78-67 during the 2021-22 season.

Manhattan will return to Connecticut and play UConn in Hartford on Friday, Nov. 24 at 2 p.m. at the XL Center.
