Manhattan Men's Swim & Dive Falls at Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Manhattan men's swimming and diving team fell to Fairfield on Saturday. The final score was 243-29.
 
For individual races, Branden Deiss placed third in the 800-meter freestyle with a final time of 9:13.77, scoring three points for the Jaspers. Deiss also scored two points with a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter freestyle. Andrew Lebak placed fourth in the 100-meter backstroke with a final time of 1:02.72, only .39 seconds behind third. Abel Cartagena swam three times for the Jaspers. Caragena placed second in the 200-meter butterfly, fourth in the 200-meter IM, and sixth in the 100-meter back stroke and earned Manhattan seven points. Jonathan Carsen placed fourth in the 100-meter butterfly, earning Manhattan two points.
 
For team events, Manhattan placed third in the 200-meter freestyle relay with a finishing time of 1:43.95. It was a close race for second with only a .17 second difference. Manhattan also placed fifth in the 200-meter medley relay with a final time of 1:53.95.
 
The Jaspers race again for their last meet of the regular season, Saturday, Jan 28 at 1 p.m., against Iona in Riverdale, N.Y.
