Manhattan Falls to Dartmouth in Extra Innings

HANOVER, N.H.– Manhattan baseball led briefly but was edged by Dartmouth in a 3-2 extra-innings loss on Sunday.  
 
Manhattan (20-24) went ahead 1-0  in the top half of the third inning. Harrison Treble grounded out to second base while Trevor Santos scored. This would stand as the lone run until the Jaspers tacked on another in the top of the seventh.

Frankie Marinelli got on base off a shortstop error, advancing Jack Lynch home and taking a 2-0 lead. Dartmouth (22-18) answered with a run of their own to make it a 2-1 game at the top of the eighth.  

The Big Green managed to tie the game at two in the bottom of the eighth. Kolton Freeman hit a solo home run to deep left-field. The junior hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the eighth to secure the Dartmouth victory. 

Two different Dartmouth pitchers limited Manhattan to just four hits on Sunday. Lynch finished with a hit and one run scored. Santos went 1-for-2 on the day, with one run scored.
 
Kyle Lesler got the start for the Jaspers, lasting six innings and securing three strikeouts. Jack Mahoney pitched the final three innings and grabbed one strikeout. 

Justin Murray picked up the win for Dartmouth, making his record 4-3 for the season. 
 
This weekend, Manhattan returns to MAAC play with three games at Niagara, starting Friday, May 13.
