RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Manhattan will face Rider in the First Round of the MAAC Championship in Orlando, Fla., at the Disney Wide World Sports.
Rider (9-19, 7-11 MAAC) will be coming into the Championship on a two-game losing streak, one against Fairfield and the other against Quinnipiac. They were swept in the match against Quinnipiac. However, they took a set from Fairfield.
Manhattan and Rider faced each other twice this season, the first ending in a 3-1 victory for Rider and the second in a 3-0 sweep for the Broncs.
Manhattan (1-27, 1-17) will be coming into the Championship off a loss at Iona. The Jaspers were swept 3-0 by the Gaels.
The leaders of Manhattan's offense have been Julia Menocal, with a regular season total of 295 kills, 3.78 k/s, followed by Camila Gomez with 181 kills, 3.02 k/s, and 156 digs. Julieanne McKee dished out 21 assists for the Jaspers in last week's game against Iona. McKee has been performing exceptionally well in the second half of the regular season, regularly topping her season-high in assists with a season total of 318. For the last five matches, Sophia Lotto has had a team-high for digs, 14 last time out at Iona, which she shared with Gomez.
The game against Rider will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 16, in Orlando, Fla., at 2:30 p.m.
