Riverdale, NY - Manhattan earned a hard-fought 1-1 draw with local-rival Iona in the MAAC opener for each team at Gaelic Park.

* Trailing by a goal late in regulation, the Jaspers drew even when freshman Yashin Choukri notched his first collegiate goal in the 89th minute.

* Choukri blasted in the rebound off a missed shot from classmate Karl Gelbjerg, who was also credited with the assist on the play.

* Freshman Danny DiMarco made two saves in the first extra session, while setting the stage for the Green & White final opportunity.

* In the 110th minute, Manhattan was able to generate one final opportunity on a counterattack followed a failed Gael corner kick.

* Following a yellow card, graduate student Brandon Joseph-Buadi's last-ditch opportunity off a free kick went just left of the goal.

* DiMarco finished with a career-best 11 saves.

* The Jaspers are now 2-3-2, while the Gaels are 3-3-2.
