Riverdale, NY -
Manhattan defeated Lehigh by a 1-0 count to open the 2021 season in style in front of a boisterous crowd at Gaelic Park.

* The Jaspers appeared poised to add to the lead in the 40th minute when senior James Cotter's blast was narrowly redirected by Lehigh goalkeeper Noah Sutherland.

* In the second half, both teams misfired on breakaways as graduate student Brandon Joseph-Buadi misfired painfully left, before DiMarco kept Lehigh off the board with an impressive save off a point-blank opportunity in the 64th minute.

* Lehigh had another potential counter-attack that was thwarted by an impressive defensive deflection by senior Simon Busch in the 72nd minute.

* After Busch's impressive play, the Mountain Hawks were unable to muster any serious scoring threats the rest of the way.

* Manhattan posted advantages in shots (10-9), with the visitors holding a slight edge in corner kicks (3-2).
