Manhattan Sweeps Siena On Sunday

Loudonville, NY - Fueled by smashing four home runs, Manhattan swept Siena on Sunday by scores of 13-11 (8) and 7-4 (7) at Connors Park to secure the series victory.

* The Jaspers improve to 6-12, while the Saints are 6-14.

Game Two
* Trailing by three entering the sixth inning, Manhattan erupted for seven runs en route to clinching the series with a 7-4 victory.

* Junior Sam Franco (Bardonia, NY / Clarkstown South) crushed a two-run home run and senior Jake Knop (Portland, ME / Portland) smoked a three-run shot to fuel a Jasper offensive explosion that produced seven runs on seven hits in the decisive frame. 

* Graduate student RHP Teddy Sabato (Rye Brook, NY / UNC) struck out three while yielding one run over 2.1 innings in earning the win.

* Senior Matt Padre (Flemington, NJ / Hunterdon Central) had three hits, while junior Nick Cimillo (Airmont, NY / Suffern) was 2-for-3 with a walk to pace a 10-hit Green & White attack.
 
Game One
* Manhattan erased a four-run deficit in its last trip to the plate en route to posting a 13-11 come-from-behind victory over Siena in the opener.

* Senior Will Trochiano (Morganville, NJ / Marlboro) tied the game up at 11-11 in the top of the seventh inning with a two-out, three-run homer.

* After senior RHP Jose De La Cruz (New York, NY / Westchester CC) then stranded the would-be winning run at second in the bottom part of the frame, the Jaspers struck for two runs in the top of the eight.

* Graduate student Richie Barrella (Larchmont, NY / Canterbury Prep) broke the tie with a RBI single, before freshman Trevor Santos (Nutley, NJ / Nutley) added a RBI double.

* De La Cruz then got the final three outs in earning his first career victory, striking out two over 3.0 innings.

* Trochiano finished up 2-for-5 with a home run, five RBI and a walk, while Santos and freshman Peter Durocher (Emerson, NJ / Emerson Junior-Senior) each had two hits and a walk to highlight an offense that rapped out 12 hits.

* Cimillo also homered, drove in two and scored three runs.

* Manhattan will host Fairfield in doubleheader action on Saturday, April 24 at 12:00 pm.
