Manhattan Battles Rider In MAAC Quarterfinal Action

– Manhattan dropped a 3-0 decision by scores of 25-22, 25-21 and 25-14 to Rider in quarterfinal action at the 2020-21 MAAC Championship.

Set One
* Fueled by an early 5-0 spurt, the Jaspers jumped out to a 19-16 score in the first set.
* Unfortunately, the Broncs tied it up with three-straight points en route to ending the stanza with a 9-3 run.
* Freshman Bianca Vieira (Land O'Lakes, FL / Land O'Lakes) led the way with four kills, while senior Erin Hoener (St. Louis, MO / Incarnate Word) notched three kills.

Set Two
* Trailing 14-7 in the second set, the Green & White mounted an impressive comeback with seven-straight points in tying the set up at 14-14.
* After reclaiming possession following a Rider hitting error, senior Reyn Hoffman (Ventura, CA / Venture) serviced six-straight points, highlighted by an ace.
* The Broncs would reclaim the lead with four-straight points, as Manhattan trimmed the deficit to three on four separate occasions, but wasn't able to get any closer.
* Hoener had three kills and two blocks.

Set Three
* Rider showed why it is considered a favorite to win the MAAC Championship by hitting at an impressive .333 clip in the final set.
* Trailing 16-8, the Jaspers responded with four-straight points to slice the deficit in half.
* Rider responded with a match-ending 9-2 spurt, despite a kill and ace from Hoener.

Inside The Numbers
* The Green & White ends its season with a 4-7 record, while the Broncs improve to 5-4 and will now play No. 8 Siena in tomorrow's MAAC Semifinal.
* Hoener finished with a match-high 10 kills, on .348 hitting, while adding two aces and two blocks.
* Senior Kai Riner (Kennesaw, GA / Georgia Southern) had a team-best 13 digs.
* Sophomore Abby Wilde (Parkesberg, PA / Octorora) had 20 assists with four kills and two aces.
