Riverdale, NY - Manhattan dropped a hard-fought 8-5 decision to Monmouth in non-conference action at Kessler Stadium in the season opener for each team.

* Junior Liam Walshe (Commack, NY / Commack) scored two goals to pace the Jasper offense, while Blake Van Epps (Albany, NY / Albany Academy) had a goal and an assist.

* Preseason All-MAAC goalie Senior Brendan Krebs (East Williston, NY / Chaminade) was again outstanding in goal, turning away 15 shots while posting a .652 save percentage. 

* Graduate student Luke Hanson (Middletown NY / Minisink Valley) led the defensive effort with three ground balls and three forced turnovers.

* Manhattan will open MAAC play on Saturday, March 13 at Canisius, with opening faceoff slated for 12:00 pm.
