Manhattan Drops Overtime Battle With Rider

Lawrenceville, NJ - Manhattan dropped a hard-fought late 1-0 overtime decision to Rider in the Jaspers' tenth game of the season.

 

* At the end of the first scoreless half, both team's defenses held the offenses to six shots apiece. 

 

*The second half remained a defensive battle and ended scoreless after Manhattan failed to convert a late free-kick. 

 

* Freshman Julia Nicholas (Avon, CT) almost scored in the 103 minute after a hard shot in the lower center of the net but was stopped by sophomore keeper Ellie Sciancalepore (Randolph, NJ), one of her five saves of the night. 

 

* The Broncs finally broke the scoreless match a minute later in the 104th after Rider junior Chloe Fisher (Warrington, England), scored the game-winning goal off of a hard-hit shot to the low right corner assisted by fellow junior Lindsey Maslow (Hanover,MA).

 

* The Broncs owned advantages in shots (16-13), shots on goal (6-5.) However, in corner kicks, Manhattan held the advantage with (7-1).

 

 *Freshman Julia Nicholas (Avon, CT)  led the Jaspers with 4 shots on goal during the contest followed by Freshman, Amrit Arora (Burlington, OT) with 2 shots on goal. 

 

* Senior goalkeeper Kim Mains (Harriman, NY) ended the competition with 5 saves in goal. 

 

* Fisher's goal was the fourth of her career.

 

* Manhattan will be back at home in Riverdale, NY on Wednesday, October 13 with the opening kick at Gaelic Park tabbed for 3:00 pm against Fairfield.
