Manhattan moves to 10-14 overall this season and 7-8 in league play, while Rider remains at the top of the MAAC standings at 19-4 on the year and 12-2 in the conference.
Highlights:
- Warley earned 10 rebounds in the second half on her way to the career-high, surpassing her previous standard of 16 set at Fairleigh Dickinson earlier this season. The daily total brings Warley to 636 rebounds for her career, and just five away from tying for 11th all-time.
- In addition to the rebounding milestone, Warley earned three blocks in the game, bringing her career total to 102 and keeping her in fifth place all-time. Warley is just the fifth player in program history to record 100 blocks during their time in Riverdale.
- Warley contributed a team-high 12 points against Rider, as well, recording her fifth double-double of the season. Saturday marked the fourth time Warley has led the Jaspers in scoring, the 14th time she has led the team in rebounds, and the 13th time she has led Manhattan in steals (three) this season.
- With three assists in the game, Gabby Cajou (Stony Point, NY / North Rockland) brought her career total to 277, tying Joann Nwafili (2004-08) for 15th all-time. She is now one assist away from 14th place and 22 from the program's top 10.
- Up three at the end of the first quarter, Manhattan increased its lead to nine midway through the second, before Rider went on an 11-0 run to finish the half and take a two-point lead into the locker room.
- The momentum shift continued into the third, as Rider shot 57.1 percent in quarter and extended its lead to 10.
- Determined to not go down without a fight, Manhattan used a 7-0 run in the fourth to pull within three of the Broncs with 18 seconds left to play.
- Warley sparked the run with a bucket in the paint, followed by a block and defensive rebound to set up Julie Høier (Aabyhoej, Denmark / Marselisborg Gymnasium) for a jumper to make it 53-47 with two minutes to play.
- Hoier nabbed a defensive rebound to regain possession with 36 seconds to go. Manhattan subbed in Lizahya Morgan (East Hartford, CT / Capital Preparatory Magnet), who missed her first three-point attempt but was set up to connect on her second after Cajou grabbed the offensive rebound.
- Manhattan intentionally fouled on the subsequent inbound to put Rider's Stella Johnson on the line for two. Johnson hit both, increasing the Broncs' lead to five with 17 seconds to play.
- Emily LaPointe (Staten Island, NY / Staten Island) attempted a three with six seconds to go, but it was off the mark and went out of bounds, giving Rider the ball and the MAAC victory.
- Manhattan held Rider to 13 points under its average scoring with 55 points for the game. The Broncs, who shoot .427 per game, hit just 39.3 percent of their shots on Saturday.
- Johnson, who leads the nation with 24.9 points per game, finished with 27 on the day. Amari Johnson, the MAAC's leading rebounder with 11.0 per game, earned 10 boards for the Broncs.
Manhattan will travel to Western New York to take on both Canisius (February 20) and Niagara (February 22) next week.
