New Rochelle, NY - Fueled by a strong shooting performance, Iona defeated Manhattan by an 80-57 count at the Hynes Center.

In defeat, the Jaspers fall to 11-11 and 7-6 in the MAAC while the Gaels are now 8-12 and 6-7 in the league.

Senior Pauly Paulicap (Elmont, NY / Harcum College) scored a team-leading 10 points with two blocks.

Iona jumped out to a 45-22 lead at the break, thanks to making good on 62.5 percent (15-of-24) from the floor and 92.9 percent (13-of-14) from the line.

Sophomore Christian Hinckson (Queens, NY / Tilton School (NH)) grabbed seven rebounds with two steals and two blocks, while classmate Samir Stewart (Fort Lauderdale, NY / American Heritage) had nine points to round out the top statistical performers for Manhattan.

E.J. Crawford led all players with 21 points, while adding seven assists and six rebounds, to lead a Gael unit that shot 54.2 percent (26-of-48) from the floor and 85.7 percent (24-of-28) from the line. 

The Jaspers will return to action at Siena on Sunday, February 16 with opening tip tabbed for 2:00 pm.
