Riverdale, NY - Playing for the first time in exactly nine months, Manhattan fell to Rider by an 82-64 count in the Jaspers' season opener at Draddy Gymnasium.
Junior Ant Nelson (New York, NY / Seton Hall) scored a career-high 19 points, on 7-of-9 shooting to lead the way on offense.
Classmates Jason Douglas-Stanley (Mount Vernon, NY / George Mason) added a career-high 14 points and junior Marques Watson (Brooklyn, NY / Miami Dade College) to round out the double-figure scorers for the Green & White.
The teams will meet again tomorrow night at 6:00 pm in a game that will again be streamed on ESPN3.

* Classmate Nick Brennen (Irvington, NY / Harcum College) added six rebounds and a team-best three assists.
* The Jasper bench posted a 27-20 advantage.
* Manhattan began its season in the month of December for the first time since their MAAC Championship season of 1992-93.
* Today's game also marked the first time in program history that the Jaspers opened up their season with a MAAC game.
* Rider shot 50.9 percent (30-of-59), while posting a 47-28 advantage on the glass and was led by Dwight Murray Jr., who finished up with 20 points, 15 rebounds and seven assists.
