West Long Branch, NJ – Manhattan began its two-game road trip with a 19-5 loss to Monmouth in MAAC action at Kessler Stadium.
Despite the loss, the Jaspers clinched a top-four spot in the league for the first time since 2009.
The Hawks improve to 11-5 and 5-2 in the league while the Jaspers are now 10-5 and 5-2 in the MAAC.
The Kelly Green and White got on the board 51 seconds into the contest when junior Emily Sandford (Floral Park, NY / Sacred Heart) scored off a pass from senior Caitlin Murphy (Carmel, NY / Carmel). Monmouth quickly tied the game up, before sophomore Alaina Burgess (Holden, MA / The Governor's Academy) found the back of the net off a feed from from freshman Cassidy Burns (Massapequa, NY / Plainedge) in the game's third minute.
Monmouth would respond with nine-straight goals, before senior Molly Fitzpatrick (Yorktown, NY / Lakeland) scored with 27:45 to play in the game. Murphy and junior Emily Englert (Somers, NY / Somers) also notched goals to cap the top performers from the Manhattan offense.
Allison Turturro led the Hawks with a game-high eighth goals while Nicole Ceraso added a goal and seven assists.
