Playing away from her usual libero position at setter, Rehrer earned a career-high 17 assists for Manhattan, as well as 10 digs, tying two Fairfield players for the match-high. The Stags took the three-set match 25-20, 25-17, and 25-14, improving to 3-0 in the MAAC and 4-8 on the season. The Jaspers fall to 0-14 overall and 0-3 in conference play.
Highlights:
- Freshman hitter Vivian Donovan (Newport Beach, CA / Newport Harbor) also earned a career high Saturday, scoring a team-high 10.5 points for the Jaspers, with seven kills and three service aces. Donovan's previous career-high point total came against Cal State Fullerton on August 30, where she earned 10 for Manhattan.
- Donovan's seven kills tied teammate Kenza Hall (Oakland, CA / Middle Tennessee State) for the Jaspers' team-high against the Stags. Donovan now has 53 kills for the season, just four behind team-leader Erin Hoener (St. Louis, MO / Incarnate Word) at 57. Hall has a season total of 39 kills through Saturday.
- Hoener nabbed a match-high three blocks, continuing her eight-match streak with at least one block. Her 30 blocks this season leads Manhattan, and at 0.75 blocks per set, she ranks 10th in the MAAC. The Jaspers had five team blocks to Fairfield's three.
- After starting the match down 10-3 in the first set, Manhattan put together a 9-5 run to tighten the score to 15-12 Fairfield, and would close the set 17-15. But the run wasn't enough to overcome the earlier deficit, and the Jaspers dropped the first 25-20, the closest set of the game.
- Fairfield's Sonja Radulovic had a match-high 14 kills for the Stags, aided by teammate Emily Schillinger with 11. The Stags totaled a .261 hitting percentage on the day vs. Manhattan's .126.
- The Stags' Luci Albertson tallied seven service aces to lead all players, earning the majority of Fairfield's nine total aces in the match.
- Fairfield committed just 15 errors in the match, the team's second-lowest error total of the season.
The Jaspers remain in Connecticut Sunday, September 23, to take on Quinnipiac at the Bobcats' home court starting at 1:00 pm.
