Stony Brook, NY -
Stony Brook rallied for a 4-3 win over Manhattan in non-conference action at Joe Nathan Field.

The Seawolves improve to 7-4 while the Jaspers fall to 2-8.

Stony Brook opened up the scoring with a pair of runs in the fourth inning before Manhattan rallied to tie it up at 2-2 in the top of the fifth.

Freshman Matt Padre (Flemington, NJ / Hunterdon Central) got the rally going with a double before Adam Genners (Jacksonville, FL / Stanton College Prep) worked a two-out walk. Freshman Matt Morgan (Windemere, FL / Lake Highland Prep) followed by crushing a two-run double in plating Padre and Genners.

In the top of the sixth, Manhattan fought back to take a 3-2 lead as graduate student Matt Forlow (Cold Spring, NY / Haldane) walked with two outs and would come around to score one batter later on a Padre single down the left field line.

Dylan Resk would answer in the bottom part of the frame with a go-ahead, two-run double in giving Stony Brook an insurmountable 4-3 lead.

The Jaspers would put runners on base in each of the next two frames only to be denied each time.

Senior RHP Matt Simonetti (Manalapan, NJ / Manalapan) was outstanding on the mound for Manhattan, firing 3.0 innings of one-hit ball with one strikeout while sophomore RHP Alexis Calderon (Bethlehem, PA / Liberty) notched 2.0 hitless innings of relief with two strikeouts.

Padre went 2-for-4 with a double, run and RBI to pace a five-hit Jasper attack.

Manhattan returns to action on Friday, March 9 at UNC Asheville with first pitch tabbed for 3:00 pm.
