The men's side defeated St. Francis Brooklyn in its duel meet by a score of 210.50 to 91.50. The women's team fell to the Terriers and LIU Brooklyn, who hosted on the second day.
Sophomore Artur Polyak (Haifa, Israel / Pittsburgh) had a terrific two-day showing, winning all four of his individual races and helping Manhattan win two relays on Saturday. The Jasper men won three relays over the course of the invite.
In a quick turnaround for both teams, Manhattan travels down the I-95 corridor to face American and Howard in a tri-meet hosted at American on Friday, October 12. The first event is expected to begin at 6:00 pm.
DAY 1
- Freshman Branden Deiss (Benoni, South Africa / Crawford College Lonehill) collected his first gold of his Manhattan career, winning the 500 Free in 4:53.00.
- In the 200 IM, Polyak was first in 1:57.65 and junior Tyler Dalton (East Stroudsburg, Pa / Pocono Mountain East) was third in 2:05.25.
- Sophomore Andre van Huyssteen (Paarl, South Africa / Paarl Boys) was the victor in the 50 Free with a time of 22.23 seconds, while classmate Charles Ledda (New Fairfield, CT / New Fairfield) tied for second at 22.69 seconds.
- On the women's side, Manhattan earned fourth in the 400 Free Relay in 3:45.48 with Eastman, Hamilton, freshman Jamie Quinn (Fairfax, VA / WT Woodson) and junior Kali Nembach (Lynbrook, NY / Lynbrook).
- The Jaspers were victorious in the Men's 200 Medley Relay, as van Huyssteen, freshman Matthew Shen (Waxhaw, NC / Marvin Ridge), classmate Kyle Bergin (Lynbrook, NY / Lynbrook Senior) and junior Timothy Valentine (Massapequa, NY / Chaminade) swam in 1:38.33.
- Freshman diver Lexington Passamonte (Rochester, NY / Greece Athena) was only a few points shy of the 1-meter school record, scoring 184.88.
- Rookies Tommy Courtney (Thornwood, NY / Archbishop Stepinac) and Connor Marshall (West Hartford, CT / Avon Old Farms) placed first in the 1-meter and 3-meter events, respectively.
DAY 2
- Polyak recorded three victories in the 100 Back (53.66 seconds), 200 Fly (1:59.13) and 200 Back (1:55.63).
- Manhattan had all three medalists in the men's 100 Breast, as Valentine led all swimmers in the event in 1:01.89. Dalton and freshman Brian Coleman (Charlotte, NC / Charlotte Catholic) earned silver and bronze, respectively.
- Dalton was the winner of the 200 Breast with a time of 2:19.66.
- Deiss and senior Evan Battisti (East Meadow, NY / East Meadow) went back-to-back to lead the Jaspers in the Mixed 1000 Free, while Hamilton was the best women's swimmer for Manhattan in the event.
- van Huyssteen earned first in the 100 Free and 100 Fly in 47.45 seconds and 52.30 seconds, respectively. Shen placed second in the 100 Free.
- The Jaspers had two top-five finishers in the Women's 200 Back in senior Megan Pagano (Lagrangeville, NY / Arlington) and freshman Ashley Patierno (Hyde Park, NY / Franklin D. Roosevelt).
- Manhattan men's swimming won the 400 Medley Relay (Polyak, Valentine, Shen and van Huyssteen in 3:32.98) and the 200 Free Relay (Bergin, Ledda, Shen and Polyak in 1:28.92).
