Wappingers Falls, NY - UAlbany scored in seven of its nine trips to the plate en route to registering a 21-9 win over Manhattan in non-conference action at Dutchess Stadium.

The Great Danes improve to 17-22 while the Jaspers fall to 15-27.

UAlbany opened the game with six runs in the first while sending 11 batters to the plate before adding two more in the top of the second.

Manhattan got on the board in the bottom part of the frame as senior Chris Reynolds (Wall, NJ / St. Rose) crushed a two-run double to plate junior Jason Patnick (Hopewell, NJ / IMG Academy (FL)) and freshman Anthony Rocchietti (Green Brook, NJ / Watchung Hills).

After the Great Danes responded with three runs in the top of the third, the Jaspers added two more runs to trim the deficit to 11-4 in the bottom part of the frame. Freshman Fabian Pena (Miami, FL / Calusa Prep) crushed his MAAC-leading 18th double to right field before scoring on Patnick's second double of the game. Sophomore Michael Pfenninger (Flemington, NJ / Hunterdon Central) then plated Patnick with a single to right center.

UAlbany stretched its lead to 12-4 in the top of the fourth before the Jaspers batted around in plating five runs in the bottom part of the inning.

Rocchietti led off with a single before scoring on Reynolds' second double of the game. Freshman Chris Morris (Brooklyn, NY / Xavier) then laced his first career hit, a run-scoring triple to right field in trimming the deficit to 12-6. Junior Jose Carrera (Miami, FL / St. Brendan) continued the extra-base parade with a run-scoring double to left field in scoring Morris before Carrera scored on Patnick's bases loaded walk. Pfenninger then capped the big inning with an infield hit to score freshman Richie Barrella (Larchmont, NY / Canterbury Prep) in making it a 12-9 game.

Unfortunately, that would be as close as Manhattan would get as the Great Danes responded with three runs before plating five in the sixth and one in the eighth in posting the final 21-9 score.

Patnick went 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs and two RBI to lead a Jasper attack that rapped out nine extra-base hits, including seven of the two-base variety. Reynolds was 3-for-5 with three RBI and two doubles while Pena, Pfenninger and Rocchietti also had a pair of hits to round out the multi-hit performers.

Evan Harasta paced UAlbany, going 3-for-4 with a home run, five runs and five RBI.

Manhattan returns to action at Wagner on Wednesday, March 4 with first pitch slated for at 6:00 pm.
