Riverdale, NY - Detroit scored eight of the final nine goals en route to posting an 8-3 win over Manhattan in the MAAC opener for both teams at Gaelic Park.

The Titans improve to 1-5 while the Jaspers fall to 1-8.

Manhattan started stront as reigning MAAC Rookie of the Week freshman Parker Giarratana (Delray, FL / Boca Raton Community) opened the scoring with an unassisted goal.

After Detroit answered the score, junior Matt Garvey (Essex Falls, NJ / West Essex) reclaimed the lead for the Jaspers.

Unfortunately, the Titans closed out the second quarter with three-straight goals in taking a 4-2 lead at the break.

Aftter a scoreless third period, Detroit extended the lead out to 7-2 with three more goals before Garvey scored his second goal of the game off a pass from freshman Cole Johnson (Dexter, NY / General Brown).

Detroit would tally one more score in providing the final 8-3 margin.

Sophomore Michael Zingaro (Cortland Manor, NY / Walter Panas) made eight saves in defeat while Garvey scored two goals to pace the Manhattan effort.

The Jaspers return to action on Saturday, March 26 against Monmouth with opening face-off slated for 4:30 pm.
