West Point, NY
 - The Manhattan women's lacrosse team posted an impressive wire-to-wire 14-9 win over Army West Point in the season opener for both teams at Michie Stadium.

The Jaspers sprinted out to the early 3-0 lead over the first five minutes en route to claiming an 8-3 halftime advantage. Seven different players found the net for the Jaspers in the outing.

Senior Megan Yarusso (Brewster, NY / Brewster) found the goal four times with classmate Stefanie Ranagan (Yorktown Heights, NY / Yorktown) adding three goals.

Ranagan opened the scoring just under three minutes into the game before junior Sarah Lang (Golden's Bridge, NY / Vermont) joined the party with 26:54 to play in the half, putting one in the back of the net. Yarusso then picked up her first of four goals to cap the game-opening spurt.

After back to back goals by the Black Knights, the Jaspers finished the first half on a 5-1 run on the strength of goals freshman Molly Fitzpatrick (Yorktown, NY / Lakeland), Yarusso, Roediger and Ranagan in taking the aforementioned 8-3 halftime advantage.

After Army and Manhattan traded goals to start the second half, sophomore Melissa Vogelgesang (Downingtown, PA / Downingtown West) scored a goal off a pass from freshman Jordyn DiCostanzo (Eastchester, NY / Eastchester) to extend the Jasper lead to what would prove to be an insurmountable 13-6 margin with 13:26 left to play.

Freshman Nikki Prestiano (Cortlandt Manor, NY / Yorktown) got the win in goal, making seven saves.

Manhattan at Lafayette on Wednesday, February 17 with opening draw slated for 7:00 pm.
