Riverdale, NY - Senior Emily Ude (Babylon, NY / North Babylon) scored a pair of goals with an assist while freshman Nicole Copping (Blue Point, NY / Bayport-Blue Point) added a score and three assists to lead Manhattan to dominating 5-0 win over Saint Peter's at Gaelic Park.
With the win, the Jaspers improve to 7-3-1 while staying unbeaten in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) at 3-0-1 as the Peacocks fall to 2-10 and 0-5 in the league.
Manhattan opened up the scoring in the eighth minute as Lizzy Carlson (Auburn, MA / Auburn) blasted her third goal of the year off senior Colleen Kavanagh's (Rockville Centre, NY / Sacred Heart Academy) corner kick.
The Jaspers would add to the lead in the 17th minute when Copping stole a pass near midfield before finishing with a blast from 10 yards out.
Junior Erica Modena (Massapequa, NY / Massapequa) then capped Manhattan's three-goal first half with a shot from directly in front of the net and in the process registered her team-leading ninth score of the season.
After halftime, Ude notched a pair of goals to provide the final 5-0 count.
Kristen Skonieczny (Lagrangeville, NY / Arlington) collected her fifth clean sheet of the year, but it wasn't easy. The senior netminder registered five saves, including a pair of diving stops, to improve to 6-2-1.
Manhattan returns to action at Niagara on Saturday, October 10 at 1:00 pm.
Notes:
* Copping now leads the team with five assists and is tied with Ude for second place with nine points.
* Manhattan has outscored the opposition 21-6 this season, including 11-1 during MAAC play.
* Skonieczny recorded her 20th career victory and 13th career shutout.
* The Jaspers' 7-3-1 start matches the program's best-ever start (1993, 2006).
