Edgeworth Takes 10th, Manhattan Finishes 5th at MAAC's

LAKE BUENA VISTA, FLA. - Freshman James Edgeworth placed 10th in his first ever Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) tournament appearance, leading Manhattan to a 5th place team finish, the teams best since 2002. Edgeworth was also named to the All-MAAC team following a third round 76.

After his opening round 73, Edgeworth posted back to back rounds of four over, to finish with a 225 combined score, +9 for the tournament. The Jaspers norrowly missed a second top-10 finisher as Paul Toohey finished tied for 11th. His third round 80 gave him a tournament score of 227 after his three-under 69 on Saturday.

Senior Matthew Creamer rebounded nicely after struggling on the first two days of competition. HIs one-over 73 moved him into a tie for 26th after rounds of 83 and 82 earlier in the week. Chris Calabro also improved upon his Saturday score of 83, shooting a six-over 78 on Sunday. Finally, Michael Giannico completed his first conference tournament with a three-day score of 253 to tie for 40th place.

As a squad, Manhattan turned in a team score of 307 on Sunday to finish for fifth place with a 927 team score. Loyola came away with the team title, finishing with a combined score of 881, while Fairfield's Steve Burak won the individual crown shooting -8 for the tournament.

Creamer was also named to the MAAC All-Academic Team along with teammates Jonathan Feuer and Mike Schutsky. They were three of 55 athletes who earned the honor, compiling a cummulative 3.20 grade point average.
