Riverdale, N.Y. - Getting six goals from Tara Convery and five from Chrissy Gutenberger, the Manhattan College women's lacrosse team topped Niagara University 20-7 in a Friday night women's lacrosse game held at Gaelic Park in the Bronx.

Adding goals for the Lady Jaspers were Julia Lavelle, who tallied a hat-trick, as well as Keri Morrison and Helen Kerrisk, who added two goals apiece.  Caralyn Hickey and Elizabeth Dugan chipped in with a goal each.  Hickey had four assists, with Convery and Morrison getting one helper each.

Defensively, Kerrisk and Morrison caused two turnovers each, while Convery and Breana Leonard and Phelicia VanOverbeke had two caused turnovers apiece.  Kristen Brenner and Ashley McHale picked up four ground balls; Convery had three ground balls.

Manhattan outshot Niagara 32 to 28 on the night, with Lady Jasper goalkeeper Julia DiBernardo picking up 14 saves.

Manhattan, now 3-12 overall and 1-4 I the MAAC, went on top early, getting a goal less than three minutes into the match from Lavelle.  After Niagara (now 1-10, 0-5 in the MAAC) tied the game at 1-1, Convery and Gutenberger scored goals 10 seconds apart to make the score 3-1.  After another Niagara tally at 24.28, Manhattan got two goals from Gutenberger and one from Kerrisk in the next three minutes to take the Manhattan led to 6-2.

A goal at 16:23 made the score 6-3, but Manhattan went on a 4-0 run during the next four minutes to make the score 10-3.  A Niagara goal at 10:17 made it 10-4 and then traded goals with the Jaspers, but during the last five minutes of the first half Manhattan closed with another 4-0 run to make the halftime score 16-5.

Manhattan outscored 4-2 in the second half to close out the game.

Manhattan closes out its season Sunday morning with Senior Day.  Manhattan's five seniors will be honored just prior to the 10 a.m. match versus Canisius College at Gaelic Park.
