Riverdale, N.Y. (September 6, 2005)--Manhattan Men's Soccer dropped a 2-0 decision to LIU on Tuesday afternoon in Brooklyn.
Manhattan keeper Dashiell Parsons posted a nine-save effort, but LIU managed to capitalize on two first-half scoring chances to earn the victory. LIU senior Mustapha Ayoub converted an opportunity at the 24:30 mark, and freshman Ryan Vignona doubled the Blackbirds' lead by scoring off of a corner kick with less than four minutes remaining in the half.
Five different Jaspers managed a shot on goal in the loss, and the midfield was forced to play shorthanded for the final 27 minutes of the LIU home opener.
Manhattan will return to action this weekend as they head down to West Long Branch, N.J. to compete in the Soccerpost.com Classic on September 10 and 11. On Saturday, the Jaspers face off against NJIT at 3 p.m., and then, they will take on host school Monmouth at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
