Hamden, Conn. (September 24, 2005)- Manhattan scored the game's first goal, but could not hold off Quinnipiac, as the Bobcats escaped with a 2-1 win over the Jaspers this afternoon on the Quinnipiac campus.

The Jaspers cracked the scoreboard first, as Kevin Martin put up his first marker of the season at the 19:01 mark off a feed from Dan Shemanski, the first collegiate point for the rookie.

Quinnipiac answered just under two minutes later, as Lassana Camara received a pass from Graciano Brito and beat Manhattan goalkeeper David Mires to knot the score at 1-1.

The score remained tied through halftime as the two sides went into the locker rooms deadlocked at 1-1.

The Bobcats scored the only goal of the second half just 1:36 into the second stanza. Off a restart, Brito took a feed from Nicolae Popescu and put the ball to the back of the net in what would end up as the game-winner.

Mires tallied seven saves in net for Manhattan, while Kenneth Lewis stopped four shots for the Bobcats.

Quinnipiac held an 18-8 advantage in shots, but each team attempted five corners.

Manhattan gets back in action on Wednesday, September 28, when the Jaspers travel to our nation's capital to take on Big East member Georgetown. The match is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Follow all the action LIVE with Georgetown's GAMETRACKER.
